Force Ricoh to Print on Wrong Size Without Having to Hit Continue
This message indicates that the document's paper size setting does not match the paper size inserted in the paper tray or the driver settings. To resolve this issue complete the following steps:
NOTE:
- If the "Wrong Paper Size message is appearing when you are printing envelopes, refer to the solution: "How do I load envelopes into my Brother machine?"
- If the "Wrong Paper Size" message appears and you are not trying to print from your PC, refer to the solution: "How do I clear the 'Wrong Paper Size' message from my Brother machine's display?"

1. In order to clear the message from the LCD, you will need to empty any remaining jobs from the print queue. Complete the following steps:
a. Open the Printers Folder:
- Windows XP or Server 2003 : Click Start => Printers and Faxes.
- Windows Vista or Server 2008 : Click the=> Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers.
- Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 : Click the=> Devices and Printers .
- Windows 8 or Server 2012 :
i. Move your mouse to the lower left corner of the Desktop or Start screen.
ii. Right-click the screen and then left-click Control Panel.
iii. Under Hardware and Sound, click View devices and printers.
- Windows 10:
i: Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time
ii: Type control printers in the Run box and press enter.
b. Open the print queue:
- Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008: Double-click on your model machine. The Brother machine's Printer Properties window will appear.
- Windows 7/8/2008 R2/2012: Right-click on the Brother "Printer Driver" and select See What's Printing.
WARNING: In Windows 7/8/2008 R2/2012 the "Printer Driver" icon is sometimes combined with the Brother "PC Fax Driver" or another driver using the same port. To determine if this is the case, right click on the available driver and left click on Printer Properties. If you are given the option to choose the Brother "Printer Driver", then it is installed.
c. Cancel the Print Job
- To cancel all documents click Printer => Cancel All Documents (or Purge Print Documents).
- To cancel only selected print jobs, click on the specific job to highlight it. Then click Document => Cancel.
d. Press Yes. This should clear the queue.
NOTE: You may have to make several attempts to completely clear the print queue. If the print jobs still remain in the queue after several attempts, restart the computer.
2. To cle ar the "Wrong Paper Size" message from the machine once you clear the queue, you will need to:
- Adjust the Paper Size setting to match the paper you are using.
- Load paper that matches the current Paper Size setting.
- Set the paper guides in the tray to the correct position for the paper size you are using.
3. Verify the paper settings for your document. Depending on your application, the steps for setting the document's paper size will vary. From many applications, this setting can be accessed through the File => Page Setup => Paper Size menu. Please refer to your software's documentation or software vendor for instructions on how to adjust this setting.
WARNING: The most common cause for this issue is that the document size setting that is within the application DOES NOT match the paper size that is loaded within the machine's paper tray. It is very important that you adjust the application's document size.
4. Make sure the correct size paper is inserted in the tray you are printing from, and the paper guides are adjusted to fit the proper length and width of the paper.
5. When printing, you can often access and adjust the printer driver's properties. The steps for accessing these settings differ depending on your Operating System and Application. From many applications, clicking PROPERTIES or PREFERENCES within the print dialog box can access this setting.
6. Within the printing preferences window adjust the following settings:
a. Media Type: Select the media type to print on. The machine changes the way it places dots depending on the selected media type. For the best print results, make sure to select the correct media type.
b. Paper Size: This Printer Driver lets you select the size of paper and envelops and also allows user defined sizes of paper.

7. You need to adjust the Machine's Paper Size setting.
To adjust your Brother machine's Paper Size setting, follow these steps:
1. Press .
2. Press.
3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW to display the available paper sizes.
4. Press the paper size you want to use.
- You can press LETTER, LEGAL, A4, A5, EXE, or 4" X 6".
5. Press.
