Crockpot Beef Stroganoff With Golden Mushroom Soup and Cream Cheese, Sour Cream
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Make sure you exercise these v things, even so: 1. Apply "Condensed Gold Mushroom" soup. The regular Foam of Mushroom doesn't have the larger pieces of mushrooms. ii. Substitute 1/iv loving cup beef broth for 1/4 h2o. iii. Use 4 oz. sour foam instead of cream cheese. 4. Add 1/2 t. pepper for a tiny petty (but necessary) kick. 4. Just earlier adding the sour cream, mix 1 T. corn starch with two T. cold water, and so add together this mixture to stroganoff. This gives information technology the necessary extra thickness. Then, enjoy this FABULOUSLY delicious and simple to make dish!

Wow! For my husband and I to concur that a dish is worthy of 5 stars is very rare. This was a great comfort nutrient dinner, perfect after a very long day, and so easy to brand. And I accept never made bootleg stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'southward review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on here (thank you!). To practise what Jillybean did, and save others some fourth dimension, here is what all these reviews say to do: 1)Add some common salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. 3) Double the soup and water just go along worchestshire and cream cheese the same. 4)Add i/2 package onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Melt on LOW only for 5 hours. 6) Add together a dollop of sour cream likewise when calculation foam cheese. vii) Add together sauteed fresh mushrooms (well-nigh 4-6 oz) 1/two 60 minutes before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my hubby, who is a big fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will brand this oft.
09/14/2006
I call up I've found my new favorite comfort nutrient. This was really practiced. I used two pounds of circular steak (just don't like stew meat), 2 cans of aureate mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavour), and 1/2 cup water (I similar gravy). To help the cream cheese cook easier, cube and soften it before adding. I like the idea of using cream cheese rather than the traditional sour cream because if you're lucky enough to have leftvovers, it reheats nicer than sour cream. I tin't wait to make it again!
03/05/2010
It really irks me when i come on hither to become a adept recipe with a proficient rating and people's reviews are all nigh the changes they made. I dont accept time to read everyones reviews with all the changes to brand this recipe "better'. Rate the recipes as is and if you accept modifications or modify then post a new recipe!!!!!!!

5 stars for a great easy recipe for the busy on-the-become parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added one/2 tsp of fresh minced garlic, 1/2 package of dry Italian-mode salad dressing and i/2 bundle of Lipton's dry onion/ bulky/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff extra flavor complexity. Subbed low sodium beef broth for the water, and depression sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms 1/2 hour prior to the finish and stirred in sour foam to taste prior to serving! Helpful hint: Check the intensity of your crockpot every bit some are "hotter" than others and y'all may non need to melt the stroganoff the full 8 hours as the recipe lists. Cheers Jessica - smashing recipe!

This tastes really good, merely I constitute that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which absorb a LOT of moisture), I increased the water to a total cup and all the same would have been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the flavor plenty to give this another endeavour - this time no mushrooms and with a full soup can of water. I as well think I'll use traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very skillful, but I think the texture of the sour cream will adjust my tastes ameliorate. That's the beauty of this recipe - it'southward a groovy identify to take off & tinker to your preferences!

Thanks! Thanks! Give thanks YOU! My husband is the pickiest eater there is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my husband's favorite since he was a piffling boy. I hated making it simply did for him, till final nighttime, I put my human foot down and told I wanted to effort this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did not really think he would similar it. He ate a HUGE basin at dinner, then pulled out the leftovers shortly earlier going to bed and ate ANOTHER HUGE BOWL. He told me he like this more than his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I continue the meat(1 lb.), worcestershire(1 tbls.), and cream cheese(4 oz) the same. I doubled the soup(2 cans) and water(i/2 loving cup).I omitted the onions (married man hates them) merely I did add half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thanks so much for this recipe. I am certain I will be making this for a LONG time.
11/09/2002
Awesome over egg noodles. Supplant the water with sherry and substitute ane packet onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
11/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to have found this recipe. My husband loves when I make stroganoff, but I hate all the work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, every bit well every bit the onion soup parcel. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the end of cooking - I had a very happy hubby! Thank you for the Like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious recipe!
09/15/2006
I absolutely loved this recipe! It was soooo piece of cake, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I take used (I've used one recipe that called for sour cream, cream cheese, and foam soup.........clogged arteries!!!) I took the advice of some other reviews and I added a bundle of dried onion soup mix. When I added the cream cheese at the cease, I too threw in two handfuls of fresh mushrooms. It was the perfect touch. I will be adding this recipe to my permanent collection!!
01/02/2011
I made this for the start time terminal dark and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: ii pounds cubed sirloin steak 2 cans golden mushroom soup ane large chopped onion 2 cloves garlic minced 1/2 pound sliced mushrooms 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce one teaspoon pepper one/2 loving cup beefiness broth i pack onion soup mix 4 ounces cream cheese, softened. 4 ounces sour cream All but cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for half dozen hours, served over noodles and it was OMG Expert! Thanks for sharing
01/27/2009
I am only giving this 4 stars since I did accept the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a scrap. Instead of using a tiresome cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on tiptop of the stove and it turned out really good. I served it over egg noodles, but my family unit likes it on rice meliorate. I love the addition of the cream cheese instead of sour cream, likewise! Instead of buying exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cut it up myself. ***Update: I made this again and didn't add the foam cheese due to not having whatsoever. It was even so delicious. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
10/26/2011
Jessica, thanks for posting this fantastic base recipe, I like many others did not follow it to the letter, but without your recipe wouldnt have tried information technology at all! I requite this 5 stars because your base recipe is the cornerstone of it all! I always read the reviews of whatever recipe I am going to try, and then make my own changes appropriately. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to apply upwards and make tender, and this fit the beak...I sliced some onions thick and layered them kickoff, then I cut up the cube steak, didnt brown or flour information technology at all....put in one-half a pack of beefy onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, cup of water, two cans of gilt mushroom soup (we like a thick gravy here, lol) and about a heaping teaspoon of ground pepper....let that all simmer in the crock pot for nigh 5 hours...then added about 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...permit it melt on low another hour...then added half a bar of depression fat cream cheese and so 8oz of sour cream...served over wide egg noodles and it was a HUGE hit in my household of three...made enough that we had it again terminal night and it tasted fifty-fifty better! Great use for cube steak btw, a skillful cheap selection...Thanks again Jessica, this will be a staple in my house this winter!
03/03/2009
So many reviewers said follow jillybean14's suggestions - I finally found her on page 45. To help out, here is what she suggests: (ane) add together common salt, pepper and garlic, (2)double the sauce only keep the cream cheese and worchestershire the same, (3) use Gilded Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to near 5-half dozen hrs. on low (5) add a "dollup" of sour foam when you add the cream cheese to become an extra "tang", (half-dozen) add a boullion cube, (seven) add a half parcel of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles (ix) add sauteed mushrooms, about one/2 an hour earlier serving.
09/05/2002
Great recipe! I did change it a little bit. I used a round steak and coated it with flour and browned it earlier I put it in the crock pot. I also added a can of beef goop to the mix and used the whole brick of cream cheese. Turns out great every fourth dimension!
06/26/2007
Hubby'southward outset words were..."This is crawly." This turned out keen and was super piece of cake. Perfect for a cold winter evening or company! However I did add a few things and made a few unproblematic changes after looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. 1 can of gold mushroom soup and half can of foam of mushroom, whole packet of fresh sliced mushrooms, iii sliced greenish onions and half a chopped yellow onion. 1 can of beef broth instead of whatever water. I seasoned the cubed stew beef with seasoning salt ( and if you melt it on low for vi-eight hours it does NOT toughen upwardly, ours was sooo tender! So save a few bucks and get the stew meat!). Cooked on depression for 6 hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would actually add more than mushrooms next time. The last hr I put in 8 oz of depression fatty sour cream and 3 heaping tablespoons of nonfat cream cheese. I and so took 1 tbls of corn starch (you could use flour) and mixed information technology with milk to thicken the sauce. It was pretty thick already so I would merely add it if you lot similar a thicker sauce. Putting the cream cheese in the terminal 60 minutes gave it plenty of time to combine and cook down so information technology was not mesomorphic. Perfection!!
04/16/2012
I made a lot of changes based on reviews. I use following: 2 lbs stew meat, two cans golden cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, ii cloves garlic minced, 1 beef bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, 1 pkt onion soup mix, one/two c.-ish beef broth, sliced mushrooms, & 4 oz. foam cheese. Cook 8 hours on low and add cream cheese about 30-sixty minutes earlier serving. I've fabricated this dozens of times and I no longer mensurate and it e'er turns out great. Since in that location is only 2 of us and I don't want left overs I employ one lb stew meat, 1 can golden mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for 5-6 hours and everything else the same and it'due south nonetheless good.
05/21/2012
Always on the picket for sure-burn down slow cooker meals and this was slap-up, then thanks Jessica and also JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly's modifications.) Received compliments all around for this. Definitely a keeper to make again, squeamish condolement fare.
01/12/2011
My hubby thought it to be a bit bland equally far equally flavor goes, only I just added some more Worcestershire sauce to the dish in one case it was done and it tasted a lot better, other than that I just used sour cream instead of foam cheese and this dish was super yummy! Cheers for the recipe, I'll definitely make it again!
eleven/01/2005
Wow! Just delicious! We volition for sure make this again and again. I did all the alterations recommended by other reviewers though. 2 lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, 1/two cup beef broth instead of water, added table salt, pepper and garlic powder, one/2 bundle onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at stop and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low five hrs. Information technology was to DIE for! Nosotros served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also keen warmed upwardly the next day!
09/06/2010
And I accept never made bootleg stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'due south review, who summed up the 500+ reviews on here (thank yous!). To practise what Jillybean did, and salve others some fourth dimension, here is what all these reviews say to do: one)Add some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. three) Double the soup and water only keep worchestshire and foam cheese the same. iv)Add one/2 parcel onion soup mix to mixture. five)Cook on Low only for five hours. half dozen) Add a dollop of sour foam also when adding cream cheese. vii) Add sauteed fresh mushrooms (almost 4-6 oz) i/ii hr before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I plant this recipe five years ago and but now deciding I should add my two cents - I similar to think I've perfected it, somewhat. For the more picky melt, it helps to dark-brown your beef. No need to, but it definitely brings out more flavour. We're two guys and so 1 pound of beef simply doesn't cut it for wanting to have this for dinner for a few nights, and then I sometimes double or triple the recipe, peculiarly if we're having visitor. I toss in a flake more actress worcestershire sauce, like about one tablespoon extra. I've spent quite a scrap of time in Russia and can tell yous this little recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) Every bit others have said, a cube of beef bouillon doesn't hurt merely if y'all think information technology needs more seasoning, go for it! I always add together a touch of Cajun seasoning to spice information technology up a scrap, merely I accept Cajun roots so, that'southward only me. Finally, I ALWAYS add mushrooms most the terminate. Take an 8oz or more pack of baby bellas, slices em up, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, so set up aside. In the terminal hour or 2 of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, you gotta exercise this. It adds the authentic stroganoff taste and texture and jacks up the recipe a flake if y'all're feeding a hungry family unit. Excellent recipe - this recipe is the reason I've become a irksome cooker guy and I'd dear to meet the person who posted it and milk shake their hands or requite 'em a hug. It's but that good!!
12/01/2011
See JillyBean14's Review which I copied here: I read almost all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To relieve everyone else some time, hither's what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out great): (one) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce only proceed the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) employ Gilded Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hours on depression, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add together the foam cheese to get an extra "tang", (half dozen) add a bullion cube, (vii) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about i/ii an hr before serving. I know this isn't truthful to the original recipe, simply I trusted others and I call back it helped. Great tedious-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and and then just boiled the handbag to reheat. Information technology was great the second time around! The just thing I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - tin't stand it. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend information technology!!
11/12/2005
I cannot believe this is five stars. My husband and I did not similar this at all. I have been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family unit and friends to exist an awesome melt, and then I was a little embarrassed when hubby asked me non to make this again.
02/27/2007
I made this using the exact recipe. Because of my piece of work schedule mine concluded up cooking on low for about 10 hours. My but regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Side by side time I'll saute them a flake first. The ingredients were simple, and we liked the end result. We'll definately be making this once more!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a good bones recipe. I double the recipe. Used one-half gilt mushroom and half roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup. Added one package beefy onion soup mix. As well added some cooking sherry (i/four cup). An hour or then before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (about i.5 cups).
ten/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some extra mushrooms and more meat. I used the golden mushroom soup and also added a can of bulky mushroom soup and eliminated the suggestion of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did non use Foam Cheese as I don't care for the cream cheese flavor in casseroles - it just seems to overpower everything else. I used about a loving cup of sour foam equally I had a lot of sauce. If I were to make it again, I'd probably non use the second can of soup as there was simply so much sauce. That said, hubby and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably make it again with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is really good AS LONG Equally YOU MAKE THE Post-obit CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to exist made. These are her changes) 2 pounds cubed beef stew meat 2 cans golden mushroom soup ane/2 cup chopped onion 1/two packet of dry onion soup mix 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce one/2 cup water iv ounces foam cheese spoonful of sour foam Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add a bit of salt, pepper & garlic to the pot along with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour foam at the same time you stir in cream cheese. my 4 yr onetime and 2 year old couldn't get enough of this. I served it over wide-cut egg noodles. It was done in exactly 5 hours on low. I will definitely make this again. retrieve - don't sub the golden mushroom soup. it has to be gold mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely banal, and the cream cheese left little chunks considering of combining information technology with heat (didn't consider at the time).
eleven/14/2006
I'yard not sure what went wrong, merely mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else have this problem????
01/eighteen/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine simply it lacks seasoning. I added 1 TBL extra worstershire, 1/3 cup white wine, one TBL dijon mustard, .v TSP dried dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, salt and pepper, 1 tin can drained mushrooms. I also substituted light sour cream for cream cheese. It was excellent.
11/07/2010
Crawly. I like simple recipes with a lot of leftovers, and so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, 3 cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz foam cheese, i/4 loving cup sour cream, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a tin of french onion soup. This likewise eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on high and went to work for five hours. Came back later, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super easy, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this calculation viii oz. of mushrooms,a loving cup of crimson wine and two tbsp. of beef bullion. I seared the meat, browning it merely non fully cooking information technology. Best stroganoff we've e'er had.
08/20/2005
Amazing, this is and so admittedly wonderful, very easy. The cream cheese was lumpy though, next fourth dimension I volition take out some sauce and whisk the foam cheese into that and so add to the mixture. I as well added 2tbsp of sour cream, sauteed mushrooms, salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if you are making this for 4 or more adults. Thanks for a neat recipe.
x/xx/2011
My husband said this is the best stroganoff he has ever had. I used ground meat instead of the cube meat (only because my kids will consume the footing meat). I as well could non find golden mushroom soup and then I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beef goop in place of the water. The sense of taste was wonderful and I will be making this version from now on.
04/22/2009
I read almost all of the reviews and made modifications based on them; and here they are (and what I did...and it came out absolutely delicious!): (1) add salt, pepper, and iii cloves minced garlic, (2) double the soup (3) use Golden Mushroom, Non cream of mushroom! (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to about 5-6 hours on low, (five) utilise 2 oz foam cheese and a dollop sour foam (half-dozen) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix (8) add sautéed mushrooms about 1/two an 60 minutes before serving. Mine came out rather sparse, then it might help if you glaze the meat in flour before cooking it. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beef, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't truthful to the original recipe, just I trusted the other reviews and I'1000 glad I did! 5 stars to the modified recipie, but three to this basic (and rather bland) recipie! (Special thanks to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/xv/2005
I love stroganoff but was looking for a new recipe for information technology. This recipe was fantabulous!!! I used two cans of soup and likewise added 1/2 pkg. of onion soup mix and one can of beef goop instead of h2o. The beefiness was so tender. I tin't wait to make it again! Thank you Jessica!
xi/24/2009
Always looking for something new to make cause the simpler information technology is the meliorate my husband likes it. We both enjoyed this repast, I had a package of beefiness ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I almost forget the cream cheese and because it wasn't thick at that signal, I added about a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the cream chesse. I like mushrooms, he doesn't then I sauteed them and put them on my portion but. Both of usa were happy! I'll be calculation this to my recipes. Thanks for sharing!
09/07/2009
So Expert!! Cooked overnight on low in the crock pot. I left information technology on warm until dinner time. Doubled the recipe since I only had a two ane/2 lb roast instead of the stew meat. But, really good anyways.
x/14/2002
This is a good, like shooting fish in a barrel recipe, although I do think that it's missing something. It needs some spices to jazz it up. I will make information technology again, but the adjacent fourth dimension I volition add oregano and perchance some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made enough for my husband and I to share for dinner with a little left over for his lunch the next twenty-four hours. I used sour cream instead of cream cheese. Rather than calculation the cream to the crock pot, I served information technology on the side so we could add together as much or as little every bit we wanted. I found that information technology was just equally proficient without. I served this over egg noodles which I prefer (more than hearty). My married man gave this a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
06/09/2011
I followed the first reviewer's suggestions. They were great. Added pepper and iii cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and h2o. Do not apply Foam of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking time to nigh 6 hours on low and 1/two hour on high. Added a "dollup" of sour foam when I added the cream cheese. Added a beef bullion cube. Added a one-half packet of onion soup mix. Added 8 oz package of sauteed mushrooms i/2 hour earlier serving. Served over egg noodles. Admittedly loved it! The beef was so tender and the sauce was tasty! I as well served information technology with bread to soak up the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A real keeper! I added canned mushrooms, table salt and pepper. At the end I added the cream cheese (3 oz) outset and and then added about a 1/4 cup of sour foam. I think the combo of the cream cheese and sour cream is perfect.
ten/02/2006
Fabricated this for the first fourth dimension for company, and it was a hitting! I used 2lbs. bottom round steak cut into cubes, 2 cans golden mush soup, 1/2 packet dry out onion soup mix, and sauted 6 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured it in pot with juices, and a little xtra cream cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the residual. Served over buttered noodles with a side of green peas, and bread for dipping upwards the delicious gravy! Tin't go incorrect with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very good, substituted beef broth for water, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour cream for cream cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/10/2010
this recipe is perfect the way information technology is. to everyone that feels the need to charge per unit it based on changes that they have made personally, why don't you submit your own recipe and rate this 1 for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, thanks, jessica! our family (of 6) all honey this recipe exactly like you wrote it!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very good. I fabricated just as it was written. Next fourth dimension I will apply sour cream instead of foam cheese and I will try white vino in place of the water.
02/05/2014
I don't normally treat beef stroganoff; however, I fabricated this final nighttime (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read virtually all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To save anybody else some time, here'southward what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out great): (i) add common salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce merely go on the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (3) utilise Golden Mushroom, non Foam of Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to virtually 5-6 hours on depression, (five) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half parcel of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms almost one/2 an hr before serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted others and I think it helped. Great wearisome-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal and then merely boiled the purse to reheat. It was great the second fourth dimension around!
12/28/2014
I don't think I will ever make beef stroganoff with sour cream again. This was so delicious and both me, my fiance and best friend said it was amazing! I did brand a couple of adjustments but pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, 2 cans of the gold mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion pulverization, garlic salt, steak house seasoning and some pepper. I didn't measure out 1/2 cup of onion; instead I merely used half of a large yellow onion and finally added a 3rd of a 16oz package chopped mushrooms. Correct before I added the cream cheese I sauted the remainder of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. Then added the 4oz of cream cheese. I took out a big amount (nearly half or a footling more) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled it in a sauce pan, adding a teeny bit of butter (less so a tbsp) and some corn starch until it thickened up a bit and poured information technology back into the crockpot, turned off the heat and let sit down for virtually 10 minutes to go along thickening. Served over egg noodles and was amazing! I am making some tonight and am going to serve information technology with some grilled asparagus.
09/05/2014
I made this recipe as written in the beginning and though it very bland. Tried to spice it up with garlic pulverisation, onion pulverisation and pepper, however not very flavorful, although we did like information technology. Sorry, but I take to requite it only 3 stars.
09/04/2003
I agree with the previous reviewer: this dish has little sense of taste. The recipe is sorely lacking in seasoning and creating flavor depth. The one thing I did like was how tender the meat came out through the slow cooking process. Seasonings are really needed, such every bit table salt and pepper, garlic, beef bouillon and/or goop, maybe even a touch of tomato paste. I also think that browning the meat and onions (equally well as mushrooms) would result in a much fuller flavour, so I'll practice that adjacent time. And, the cream cheese just does not piece of work in stroganoff – sour cream would much improve and authenticate this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, it's definitely a dish I can tinker with. : ) Folks - run across "Daria'south Boring Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH ameliorate.
09/28/2010
OK this is an awesome base recipe. As I was reading the other reviews and preparing it, I did make some suggested adjustments. My family unit asked for this all the time. (ane) add table salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the aforementioned, (iii) use Golden Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (six) add together a beef bullion cube, (7) add a one-half package of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/ii an hour before serving.
07/28/2011
This was actually actually practiced! I doubled the sauce but left the worcestershire and foam cheese the same. Had it 2 nights in a row and it was delicious.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and also added 1/2 cup scarlet wine, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U M M Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my least favorite Stroganoff recipe that I accept fabricated. I prefer regular cream of mushroom soup over the gold mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture equally the recipe as written didn't make enough for iv servings.
09/xxx/2005
I made a double batch of this the commencement time. I am expecting our first infant, so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I split it and froze it in two separate foodsaver numberless to make reheating in boiling h2o easy. Nosotros had it last night. It'due south Fabled. Since I made a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a bundle of onion soup mix, some garlic and 2 jars of mushrooms. I likewise browned the meat before flinging it in the slow cooker. I cooked it on low for 8 hours. It reheats beautifully. Nosotros weren't sure nearly the foam cheese, but information technology really is quite good! Endeavor this one with no reservations. Will brand over and over again (I'one thousand going to make a lot since I have a huge irksome cooker.)

I seasoned my beef prior to putting in the slow cooker with paprika, garlic pulverisation and s&p. I besides added a beefiness bouillon cube for actress flavour. Next time may add the onion soup mix to see how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms about 45 minutes earlier it was finished. Overall it was really yummy. My only complaint is that meat was a little tough though (cooked 8 hours on low).

Served this for dinner concluding night. My whole crew..even my picky daughter loved it..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, so I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a package of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than water. I cooked on low for 4 hours. I didn't see you weren't supposed to add the cream cheese until the end, but it nonetheless turned out great. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Will definitely brand over again. Thanks for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe up, post-obit the advice of some others. First, I coated the beef with the flour, salt, and pepper and browned it. I added beef broth instead of h2o; I eliminated the onion and used a packet of onion soup mix instead; I also added one Tbs. of tomato plant paste and one Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while information technology was cooking, just removed them when I added 2 oz. of onion and chive cream cheese and 2 oz. sour cream.

Great! Extremely easy - there is nothing to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to see what I was forgetting to do/add together to the pot but didn't find anything. Sometimes I think we forget that elementary make-upwards leads to severely simple tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a niggling cumin to the slow cooker then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and salt. Next time I might throw in some potatoes into the tiresome cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-ane repast. Note I use egg noodles b/c my husband prefers noodles to rice withal, I think this would be awesome over rice. Delicioso!
10/16/2009
This was Excellent!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'k starting to effort to eat healthier... then I prob won't brand this too much but this will be 1 of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out great...Every bit per prior suggestion, I substitued beef broth for the water in the original recipe. I likewise substituted the gilt mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a piffling extra kick. I browned the meat first for about 5 min., then cooked on high in crockpot for almost v hours. Thanks for the recipe!

DELICIOUS & EASY TO Brand! My adjustments: ane 1/2# Round Steak, 24 oz tin can Cream of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), 1 T Worcestershire Sauce, 1/ii c water + ane beef bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, S & P + garlic table salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON LOW FOR 5 1/2 HOURS. And then ADDED: eight oz tin Mushrooms, 1/two brick of Foam Cheese, 4 (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Foam. COOKED Some other 1/two HOUR. Served over Egg Noodles.
04/22/2011
Fabricated this for my family coming over for dinner. Had no Gilded Mushroom so just used the regular Cream of Mushroom soup and information technology was nonetheless keen. Anybody gobbled it down. Served with homemade wide noodles and garnished with a little sour cream and parsley. I wonder if the Golden Mushroom soup would have made that much of a divergence.
01/18/2014
I never utilise my ho-hum cooker because I feel similar I'm cheating in the kitchen, haha ha. (dumb huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved it. Adjacent I will attempt the slow cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i made the original recipe and wasnt crazy over it, thought information technology was bland, so i tweaked iti used two cans of condensed onion soup since i dont like mushrooms in the first place, only i nevertheless added the chopped onion since i thought it added a bit of freshness to it. As well used half sour cream half cream cheese, to get information technology out of my fridge, and added some garlic, black pepper and but a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but information technology tasted nice, and since im never domicile its nice to take something you can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
So good, I took everybody's suggestions and used half cream cheese half sour foam and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. so good the hubby ate ii huge bowls of it!
03/16/2014
This recipe was a hitting with my zoo crew this evening for supper!! I didn't use fresh onions I adjusted the recipe for 10 servings which made the corporeality of onions 1 and 1/iv cups of onion...and I have a daughter staying at home correct now that is breastfeeding sooo I made a small adjustment I substituted one package of lipton bulky onion soup mix. and just as I was adding the cream cheese I added some freshly cooked wide egg noodles poured them correct in the crock pot and stirred them in nuance of common salt and a nuance of garlic powder and the kids and adults alike loved this...from my grandbaby who is 2 and my dad who is 66 cheers so much!!
10/09/2006
Easy and delicious. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and will definitely brand this again. It would exist good over mashed potatoes also!
03/15/2010
This is one of my favourite recipes. The married man loves it and information technology's so nice to come home to dinner already made when I walk in the door, just cook some egg noodles and it's on the table. I throw this together at night and put the whole crock pot in the fridge and just plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I normally make it with craven instead of beefiness, add mushrooms and use herb and garlic flavoured cream cheese.
04/04/2011
I've made this a couple times now and each time theirs never any leftovers! The recipe is Cracking AS IS. Don't worry if you don't have any golden mushroom soup because the only difference is the added mushrooms. So if yous like mushrooms in yours just add some towards the end, unless you employ fresh ones, and then you tin put them in in the get-go. The only thing I inverse was to add garlic salt. We love salty nutrient and I cook with garlic in just about everything! Thanks for a great piece of cake comfort food!
08/20/2013
This recipe as is its bland and overcooked. If you have to add 15 things to brand information technology edible then this recipe should never have gotten the rating information technology has. Save your nutrient and make something else.
01/xvi/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a can of mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed cherry-red pepper, and a large dollop of sour cream. Served over egg noodles. Married man an I LOVED it! it was very piece of cake and smelled nifty cooking on a dank winter twenty-four hours, i will be making this again.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once as written and once again with modifications. Every bit written, it's a good basic recipe. With additions that I made, it's outstanding. Add together ane/ii pkt onion soup mix, 1/four cup red vino and a good sprinkle of garlic powder. Cooked 1 lb frozen venison steaks on loftier for iv hours. Shredded the meat and added the foam cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't stop licking the spoon :)
x/thirty/2011
This recipe is great every bit is! The only other matter I added was pepper. Y'all guys are nuts to add onion soup mix to this when at that place is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Plenty of flavor without information technology.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a bit apparently so I added sauteed mushrooms, extra onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a petty. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't as tender as I would take thought (cooked v hours on high), and then next time I think I'll use ground beefiness...
03/04/2010
ane discussion...Amazing!! I followed JILLYBEAN14's review exactly...the merely affair i will change next time is to not add extra salt.
eleven/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a hurry and put the cream cheese in at the kickoff time instead of at the end. Information technology still worked out! And thanks to the Fizz folks that assured me information technology would be fine despite my error.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I do add together a picayune Burgundy Wine to give it an authentic Stroganoff flavor. I likewise use half cream cheese and half sour cream.
02/x/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my large, hungry family unit and there was but enough left over for my husband to take to work the next 24-hour interval for lunch. I fabricated a few changes based on other users comments. I added i/four cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the consequence was very flavorful. I will definately be making this again at the asking of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
ten/12/2008
I rated this recipe just 3 stars because this recipe had to be adjusted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to meet the the v star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beefiness Stroganoff was 5 stars "The BEST!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Cheers over again ;-) (1) add together salt, pepper, and garlic, (ii) double the sauce but go on the foam cheese and worcestershire the same, (three) utilise Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (four) reduce the cooking time to well-nigh 5-half-dozen hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour cream when you add together the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (vii) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (eight) serve over egg noodles, (nine) add sauteed mushrooms almost 1/ii an hour earlier serving.
11/27/2011
This was a wow for us, especially with such simple ingrediants. I always make as-is the first time; I might add some water chestnuts next time around simply for some texture contrast. Just it is succulent and simple just as-written!
11/10/2014
Nosotros liked this a lot. Took the communication of others and used golden mushroom soup and added beefiness flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
Then SO skillful! My hubby absolutely loved it, too. A huge winner that will be in regular rotation. I did apply JILLYBEAN14'due south suggestions, nevertheless, and then I actually can't comment on the recipe on top. The only thing that I could call back of to brand this amend is to double the recipe so there are enough of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I idea it was just okay. Looked great, smelled not bad...tasted okay.
12/thirty/2009
I made this before and idea information technology was bland. So this time I followed other reviewers and put everyone'south review together and created the best stroganoff ever! I used 2 cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms i/ii cup sour foam ane/2 cup cream cheese 1 cup water with beef bouillon cube 1 tsp thyme 1 tsp parsley i Tb garlic powder 1/2 TB salt & 1 packet dried onion soup mix. and nosotros served information technology over egg noodles. We all loved it! So cheers for the good base recipe and thank you to the other reviewers!
x/16/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was really, really good. I will actually use xvi oz. mushrooms (read reviews) next time equally that was my favorite office. I could eat the sauce with simply mushrooms and exist content but my husband would miss the beef. Thank you for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was excellent! I have tips to cut the fourth dimension mode downward in making this. 1st, read Jillybean's & momsavedbygrace'southward reveiws on what to practise different with ingredients. In addition to the above changes, I did the following with mine: 1) used TENDERIZED Round STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS So IMPORTANT FOLKS!! Yous can cook stew meat until the cows come domicile & it volition rarely get really tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized round steak and uses information technology in stews and similar dishes; it always turns out fantastic. But cube the meat yourself in v minutes & you lot'll shave hours off the cook fourth dimension. 2)I added onion & garlic powder, salt & pepper three) Added about a TBSPN of beefiness granuals iv) One 8 oz package of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & 1 TBSPN or and then of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; get out a petty texture and bite to them equally the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. 5) Added ane very generous dallop of fat free sour cream (apply Breakstones; you lot'll never miss the fat). I have a new KitchenAid deadening cooker which might exist a trivial more efficient than well-nigh just I recollect the meat is the fundamental to less cook time. I cooked this for an hr & 15min on high, then two hours on slightly college than low. It was perfect in 3 hours, twenty minutes (probably was done sooner but I wasn't home to check it). Tossed in the mushrooms right earlier serving as well as cream cheese and sour cream; no further cooking needed once that dissovles. FABULOUS!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly equally written - only off-white to do it this way if I'chiliad going to charge per unit it. When I retrieve of stroganoff I think of a creamy sauce with a sour cream flavor and this recipe was not even a little bit creamy creamy only more gravy like. The golden mushroom soup almost gives it a chip of a bite/tartness that I didn't intendance for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for 8 hours on depression, which I did, but this was way also long as the gravy like sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is not a recipe I will try over again.
04/12/2003
This is a great recipe!!!! It is super easy and tastes fabled! I would only count on 2 servings. . . not four!
01/17/2012
I was excited to try this especially with such high ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both agree that this simply wasn't that proficient. Maybe it'southward considering I don't usually cook with canned foam soups. This is basically meat and soup. I volition stick with my old standby recipe starting with a roux. Sorry.
12/23/2002
Very succulent and easy to ready. I used strips of steak and I took the advice of others and used low-fat foam of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the h2o. And then two hours before serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the lite cream cheese to stir in before serving, then served light sour foam on the table to be used equally desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and fabricated for a beautiful, succulent dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My husband and I really liked this recipe. I took some of the advice of others only non all... I basically doubled the meat, the golden mushroom soup, the water and worcestershire sauce. Virtually an hour before information technology was done, I added a bundle of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the same (4 oz) and added 4 oz of sour cream. It produced a lot of liquid then next time I may even use iii lbs of meat.
11/15/2011
Delicious! I made with one lb. of beef, 2 cans of gilded mushroom soup, 2 cloves of garlic, a whole onion and about one/2 packet of Lipton onion soup, 1 TBS. worcestershire sauce, iv ounces of cream cheese and 1/four c. beefiness boullion plus a couple T. water.
09/09/2014
Sour foam much amend than cream cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a German-Russian family beef stroganoff has been a staple for as long equally I tin remember. I have a couple timeless recipes that are better- just more than time consuming. I will hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty oft. It came out great with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- cheers JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. It saved a lot of time. The only change I made was to add one can of Golden Mushroom and on of Foam of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with homemade egg noodles if yous take them available... so much meliorate than store bought!
03/05/2011
this was the best recipes for stroganoff my husband and I ever had. First I sub. 1/4 loving cup of beef goop for the one/four cup water and so..I added some fresh mushrooms most i hour earlier cookin was finished and used sour foam instead of the cream cheese but earlier serving. and added 1/two tsp pepper for kicking just before adding the sour cream I added ane tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. Information technology was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a footling after reading several reviews and it was Awesome! I used ane lb of lean beef stew meat, 2 cans gilded mushroom soup, i entire can of beefiness broth, i small-scale can of sliced mushrooms, ane/2 onion and ane TBSN of Worcheshire. I put information technology in the crock pot on high for one hour then turned information technology down for 4-five more than. I stirred in 1/two C of sour cream at the end and information technology was amazing served over egg noodles. TRY IT - YOU WILL LOVE It!
03/17/2010
We love this and accept fabricated information technology several times. Beginning time I made it I used cream cheese, second time - a combination of foam cheese and sour cream. While the cream cheese is fine, I think the tartness of the sour foam is far better. I practice double the meat and quadruple the sauce considering it tastes and so bully on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
